UK Reseller Profit Calculator

See what a sale really made after every cost. Works for eBay, Vinted or anywhere else — you enter the fees you were actually charged.

Platform

Where did it sell?

The platform only changes the hints below. No fee rates are built in — you enter what you were actually charged. Every box needs a figure: type 0 if a cost doesn't apply. A blank box means "not known yet", so no result is shown.

1 Money in

The price the item sold for, before postage. Leave out any buyer protection fee the buyer paid eBay or Vinted: that never reaches you.

Postage the buyer paid you as part of the order. Enter 0 if postage didn't pass through you.

2 Money out for this sale

Include its share of any bulk lot. Enter 0 if it was free.

The label or counter price you paid. Enter 0 if none.

Enter the total fees eBay charged you on this sale, from the order's fee breakdown. Enter 0 if none. % is worked out on gross receipts: the item price plus postage the buyer actually paid you.

Any advertising or boost cost for this item. Enter 0 if none. % is worked out on gross receipts: the item price plus postage the buyer actually paid you.

Mailing bag, box, tape, tissue. Enter 0 if none.

Cleaning, repairs, drop-off travel for this item. Enter 0 if none.

Your breakdown

No result until every figure is entered

Blank boxes are treated as unknown, not £0 — so nothing is calculated from a guess.

Track the profit on every item you sell

The Profit & Records Kit does these sums for all your sales, works out each item's real cost from a bulk lot, flags missing costs and totals your tax year.

Gross vs net

Gross revenue is everything the buyer paid you: item price plus any postage charged to them. Estimated sale profit (before overheads and tax) is what's left after the item's cost, fees, postage, packaging and anything else you spent on the sale.

Margin vs ROI

Margin is sale profit as a share of gross receipts. ROI is sale profit as a share of what you paid for the item — useful for comparing sourcing choices. ROI isn't shown for free stock.

About the example

The illustrative example uses made-up figures, including a placeholder £2.95 platform fee and 5% promoted fee. They are not current eBay or Vinted rates. Read how buyer-paid postage affects profit.
